Handmade in the little German SPA town of Bad Kosen on the river Saale, KOSEN animals are really something special and precious.

KOSEN set themselves apart from other manufactures with their expressive design, top quality materials and craftsmanship with each design based on intensive studies of the movements and anatomy of each animal (the faces of the animals being especially expressive, lovable and life-like). Chief designer Annekatrin Mehlan has travelled extensively to study animals in their natural habitat making drawings and taking photographs, expressing her studies into the life-like soft toys.

Only best quality fake fur, Mohair or real Alpaca is used and many animals are put together from up to seventy individual elements sewn together, filled with high quality fibres, combed, brushed, embroidered and painted all by hand at the Bad Kosen factory. The high standard of workmanship and quality control at the German factory is second to none and all animals meet the European EN71 standard and are washable at 30 degrees. The products themselves have received numerous design awards including the ‘Spielgut’ distinction.

Since 2006, Kosen has been supporting the NABU (Natruschutzbund Deutschland e.V.) project ‘Welcome Wolf’. Kosen has also been working together since 2005 with the Heinz Sielmann Trust to preserve the remaining sanctuaries of rare animal and plant species in order to develop a positive attitude towards nature in people, especially in children and adolescents.

For over eight years, Kosen has been supporting the Friends of Galapagos in their conservation aims, and from 1996 to 1999, Kosen sponsored the Conservation in Action programme of London Zoo – part of Kosen’s sales proceeds being donated to the Registered Charity. Furthermore Cuddlyzoo make a donation on your behalf to the WWF for every Kosen animal purchased.

The limited edition Kosen polar bears with real Alpaca plush fur have become sought-after collector’s items and now come with a numbered and signed certificate.
